Recently someone close to my friend died a couple of weeks ago. She was not only grieving her but was more concerned about her eternal destiny. This is someone that was on fire for God and suddenly woke up one day denouncing Jesus. She started believing in some mysterious god and to the best of my friends knowledge, that was her heart posture till she died. My friend is still hoping that a miracle happened  just before she died. Maybe someone led her to Christ before she died or she finally came back to her senses and confessed Jesus as her Lord and Saviour.

Maybe…….Just Maybe…… She reconciled with God.

What if she didn’t?

That brings me to the Big ‘P’: PURPOSE.

I see people do all kind of things and tag it “Purpose”. It’s not like what they are doing is bad, they have not fully understood why they are here and who sent them on earth. That’s why you see people chase a lot of things not minding whose toes they are stepping on.

And oh! There’s the category of people that believe there purpose is to enjoy life and make more money. It’s more life enjoyment and more money baby!

Can I be real and talk to you as a friend?

You have only one purpose!!!

Guess what it is?

To Please God!!! No addition nor subtraction to it.

Nothing matters more than knowing God’s purposes for your life and nothing can compensate for not knowing them.

Perhaps the reason why you are so obsessed with this world and everything that comes with it may be because you are seeing this world as your destination.

I don’t want to scare you but there is still heaven and hell. The sad reality is that beautiful well meaning people go to hell every seconds. It is either they felt that there is time on their hands or they thought everyone was joking about the reality of eternity.

The question is not whether there is eternity, it is where will you spend your eternity?  What’s your eternal location? This question is not supposed to scare you if you have given your life to Christ and have channeled your assignments to pleasing God irrespective of your sphere of influence.

A wiser use of time is to build an eternal legacy.

I don’t know how to explain this for us to understand but eternity is not a joke. It is not something devised by lazy and wretched ministers of the gospel.

Your entire existence on this earth is just a pinch of eternity. If I were you, I would take my eternal destiny seriously and promote the kingdom of the one that sent me here.

This is not to encourage earthly irrelevance. By all means get the:

  • Degrees
  • Certifications
  • Influence
  • Houses
  • Marriage
  • Cars
  • Businesses
  • Power
  • Money and the likes

These things are good and beautiful but “If we who are [abiding] in Christ have hoped only in this life [and this is all there is], then we are of all people most miserable and to be pitied.” (1 cor 15:19)

Inotherwords, if your life and everything (the relationship, marriage, career, business, influence etc) connected to you is not pleasing God, then sweetheart – You have not discovered your purpose. You are simply wasting your time.

You are shocked right? Someone has to say it.

Then if you are still doubting it, remember that “The Lord has made everything for his own purposes” (Proverbs 16:4). The emphasis is for ‘His own purposes’ NOT ‘Your own purposes’.

This is to remind you that “This life is preparation for next”. As we are about crushing our goals for the second half of this year, I want you to do it PURPOSEFULLY with eternity in view.

You were made by God and for God- and until you understand that, life will never make sense.

Love you

Xoxo

My purpose is to live for God. Anything outside the kingdom needs to be examined.
